A little town of Trogir, a lot of history, and the Adriatic at its doorstep – one of those Croatian towns that is easy to fall in love with. Just a few minutes from Split Airport and around 30 minutes from Split, this UNESCO-listed town sits between the mainland and the island of Čiovo.
Its historic center may be small, but it is packed with centuries-old stone buildings, narrow lanes, lively squares and waterfront cafés. Trogir is the kind of place where you can spend the morning getting lost in medieval streets, stop for a long coffee on the Riva, and be back on your yacht for an afternoon swim.
For yacht charter guests exploring Central Dalmatia, it is an especially convenient stop, with easy access to the islands, beautiful nearby anchorages and plenty to discover on land
A BRIEF HISTORY OF TROGIR
Trogir’s story began in the 3rd century BC, when Greek settlers from the island of Vis founded the settlement of Tragurion. Over the centuries, Roman, Byzantine, Croatian, Venetian, French and Austrian influences all shaped the town.
The Venetian period left one of the strongest marks, with many of the palaces, churches and stone buildings that define the old town today dating from this era.
Trogir was also home to Croatia’s first recorded pharmacy, established in 1271. Today, its remarkably preserved historic center has earned Trogir UNESCO World Heritage status, while its lively waterfront and Mediterranean atmosphere have made it one of Dalmatia’s most popular destinations.
WHERE TO DOCK IN TROGIR
Trogir is particularly well suited to yacht charter, with several marina options close to the historic center.
ACI Marina Trogir

Located directly opposite the old town on Čiovo, ACI Marina Trogir is one of the most convenient choices for exploring Trogir on foot. The marina offers a range of facilities, including reception, laundry, showers, toilets, fuel and provisions.
The best part? You can step off your yacht and be in the heart of the old town within minutes.
Marina Trogir
Situated on the northern side of Čiovo in a naturally protected bay, Marina Trogir offers berths for yachts of various sizes and operates year-round.
Anchorages Around Town of Trogir
Prefer to stay on anchor?
The waters around Čiovo offer several beautiful spots for swimming and relaxing. One of the most popular is Krknjaši Blue Lagoon, between Drvenik Veli and the surrounding islets.
With its shallow turquoise water and sheltered setting, it is an ideal place to drop anchor, take out the water toys and spend a few hours in the Adriatic.

THE BEST BEACHES NEAR TROGIR
Town of Trogir may be famous for its historic center, but there is no shortage of places to enjoy a beach day nearby.
Kava Beach
Located on the eastern side of Čiovo, Kava Beach offers a more peaceful setting surrounded by pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation. It is a great option when you want to escape the busier beaches.

Duga Bay
Between Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji, Duga Bay offers clear water, a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful views towards the surrounding islands.
Mavarštica
For something a little more natural, head to Mavarštica, also known as White Beach. Pebbles, pine trees and exceptionally clear Adriatic water make it a beautiful spot for a slow afternoon by the sea.
Of course, when you are cruising by yacht, you have another option: find a quiet bay of your own and enjoy in your own pace or jump straight from the swim platform into the Adriatic.

THINGS TO DO IN TROGIR
Explore the Old Town
The best way to experience Trogir is simply to walk.
Start with the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, the town’s most important landmark. Construction began in 1213 and continued for centuries, creating a fascinating combination of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Look out for Radovan’s Portal, one of the most significant examples of medieval sculpture in Croatia, before climbing the cathedral’s bell tower for views across the old town and coastline.
Nearby, the City Loggia and Ćipiko Palace are two more architectural highlights worth adding to your walk.

Take Your Time on the Riva
Trogir’s waterfront promenade is where the town’s relaxed Mediterranean character really comes to life. Find a table, order a coffee or an Aperol Spritz and watch the harbor. Yachts come and go throughout the day, locals meet for their daily coffee and the promenade becomes especially lively towards sunset.
It is not complicated – and that is exactly the point.
Visit Kamerlengo Fortress
At the western end of the waterfront, Kamerlengo Fortress is one of town of Trogir’s most recognizable landmarks.
The 15th-century fortress offers panoramic views over the harbor and old town. During summer, it also hosts concerts and cultural events, turning this historic setting into one of the town’s most atmospheric evening venues.

Visit the Local Markets
For a glimpse of everyday life in town of Trogir, head to the green and fish markets just outside the historic center.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, locally caught fish, Croatian cheeses, cured meats, olive oil and honey fill the stalls. It is also a great place to pick up local ingredients before heading out to the yacht.
Wander the Cobblestone Streets
Town of Trogir is compact, so there is no need for a strict itinerary.
Wander through the narrow stone lanes and keep an eye out for small galleries, independent shops and local ateliers. You will find everything from handmade jewelry and artwork to traditional sweets.
And don’t leave without trying rafioli, Trogir’s famous sweet pastry.

TROGIR BY YACHT
For yacht charter guests, Town of Trogir offers one of the best combinations of history, culture and easy access to the sea.
Spend the morning exploring the UNESCO-listed old town, stop for coffee on the Riva and return to the yacht for an afternoon swim. From town of Trogir, you can easily continue towards Šolta, Brač, Hvar and Vis, making it a natural stop on a Central Dalmatian itinerary.
And while the old town is certainly worth exploring, some of the best parts of Trogir may happen just offshore – swimming in crystal-clear water, enjoying lunch on deck or watching the sun disappear behind the Dalmatian islands.
